Hello my fellow travelers and would-be travelers. Good to see you here. I'm an American who loves to travel, meet new people, eat great food, and enjoy life. It does not matter to me if you are an American or not, if you're nice, friendly, and a decent person, we'd get along. I'd love to call you friend.
This day I'm in Koh Samui, Thailand. What a place! I think this place is quite possibly paradise on earth, but since I haven't seen the whole earth, I am not 100% certain of that. It surely ranks up there in the top 10, though.
I was on my way to the Safari Park, I was early, and I was hungry. As I'm pulling into the entrance of the Safari Park, near Namuang Waterfall #2, I spotted a place called Roy Reng. Food! I stop in, it's small but clean and looks good.
When I entered Roy Reng, which I'm told means "very delicious" in Thai, I was greeted by a Thai lady who speaks very good English. She tells me her name is Tanya. Turns out she's a Thai-American who has lived in the U.S. for over 20 years, but was born in Surat Thani. So she's a local Thai American? Guess so. Friendly and nice. Cool to be able to converse fluently with her.
The menu? Well, for breakfast this morning I had: Spicy Stir Fry, Polka Dot Ray and Chicken Soup. The real deal, authentic Southern Thai cooking. This was awesome food. Spicy, tasty, and filling. I got enough to fill me up, and then some.
She has been open for just a few weeks. I plan to stop in again, and since I'm going to be on this island for awhile, Roy Reng may be a regular stop for me.
Tanya told me she serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. She has cold beverages, a television, tables and space to sit outside, too. It's far enough away from the tourist resort areas to be relaxed, but close enough to get to quickly from your hotel if that's where you're staying. Of course, nothings far from anything on Koh Samui, it's a small island, at least in my experience of places. Nothing to drive around in a short time.
I highly recommend Roy Reng, and so I'll plug Tanyas resturant. She was nice and cooks great food.
So, Roy Reng: Authentic Southern Thai Food, Homecooked meals, Family Environment, Reasonable Prices, Locals and Tourist welcome. Located at the entrance to the Safari Park near Namuang Waterfall #2.
Hey, check it out. Roy Reng.
So, after that.....I was off to the Safari Park. That was lots of fun, and I'll write about it later.....
I'm lovin' Koh Samui. Why didn't I know about this place when I was 18 years young? I'd have come here then....and probably never left. I don't want to leave now, and so I'm going to stretch it out for as long as I can. Now that I've found a great place to eat, Roy Reng, the food part is covered.
